Nocy, one of the most prolific Nuevo Flamenco guitarists around, has been at it again.  After releasing albums in 2013, he is here again with another colorful and bright collection of

Latin/Brazilian charmers called Las Flamas. The project has even more Brazilian flair tossed in in heavy doses this time just to demonstrate the man’s incredible mastery and sense of diversity in quality exotic music.

Adding a special touch of interesting vocals for the first time (for my ears, anyway), the guitarist takes his music to another dimension here.

If you have been a fan of Nocy for any period of time, you know that exciting, rousing, and exotic melodies have been a huge part of his signature.

Opening here with the hot and energetic title track which actually translates appropriately to “Flames,” the guitarist gets us going in a hurry. From here, he travels across the mesmerizing spectrum of Latin/Brazilian musical bliss, including “Muito Bom,” “Going to Sao Paolo,” “Bale,” and the infectious gem “Mi Amigo,” featuring the lovely Latin saxtress Jessy J.

The track “Inte Ya Helwa (You Beautiful)” is one that I have heard this guitar master perform live. It appears here in all its tasteful glory. The track “Falls in Love” is also one that can be found elsewhere (on his 2005 Sensual Nights CD as “When One Falls In Love” but, this time, Nocy adds the lovely vocals of one Rebecca Lopez.

I could go on and on, but one listen to this project—or any of Nocy’s material—will convince you, if you are new to his music, that he is certainly among the top Nuevo Flamenco artists who know what this music means and does to the willing souls who encounter it.  Of course, if you are familiar with his charm, this will just further cement your love of his music.  – Ronald Jackson
